Annapolis Community Boating (ACB) and its partner Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) are community-based organizations that promote boating on the Chesapeake Bay by providing boats and on-the-water educational programs to people from every age and ability level. CRAB focuses on people with disabilities, ACB focuses on everyone else.
Model
ACB and CRAB are cooperating with existing yacht clubs, boat clubs and marine businesses to build a network of equipment, volunteers, licensed instructors and professionals.
Students
We have programs for every age and ability level in boats ranging from kayaks and canoes to small motorboats to racing sailboats and large cruising boats. Our goal is to give anyone who wants it time on the water and basic safety instruction. We tailor programs to the needs of your group.
Volunteers
As with most small nonprofits, volunteers are the backbone of our organizations. Our boards of directors and many of our boat maintenance personnel, instructors and facilitators are volunteers. We are always looking for new people. It’s a great way to get out on the water and share your passion.
Focus
Annapolis Community Boating is reaching out to youth groups and adult organizations interested in experiencing boats and boating. Along with our partners at CRAB, we offer one-day, week-long, and weekend and evening programs from our new facility at Back Creek Nature Center, our big-boat facility at Annapolis Sailing School and from dock space at Sandy Point State Park and City Dock. Our combined fleet numbers close to 50 boats and growing.
We are keen to work with existing private and public boating schools and programs in the region to enhance and publicize their operations.
